When I was initially given the starting points for photography; we made individual mindmaps on what could be included in each of the topics. After completing the mind maps for each of the five starting points for Unit 2, I decided that weather would be best for me for a number of different reasons. Initially, I thought about the amount of stuff that is linked to the weather and how much there was to be able to link to the topic; for example, I could of included the different clothes that you wear in each type of weather and the actions that come from each type of weather. Then, with the ideas from the mindmap and image back firmly in my mind, I decided to go out and shoot weather.
When on the shoot for the topic, I realised that actually the weather was not the topic for me and I shouldn't carry it on for this unit. This is from many different reasons. The main one being that I have no control of the weather, and that if the weather was to stay the same for the couple of months that I was to shoot, the amount of things I can shoot would become very repetitive. While also being limited due to the same types of weather we usually get in this country. It was sleeting slightly so everything was damp, and the sky was dull and grey. This and the factor that we would be carrying this on for the winter and beginning of spring, meant that we probably wouldn't have much to shoot. Although there was not enough rain for it to come through the images. During this shoot, it dawned on me that the weather was probably going to stay like this for a long time and I could end up with having several dull shoots. After this, I decided to go back and research my other two chosen which were Creative use of Light and Evidence. After researching, I decided that the starting point for Evidence was so broad that I could include light, therefore I will choose Evidence.
Eventually, I was set on the evidence starting point and looked at a range of different stems that can come from photographing evidence. Some of these different types can be human presence. Which is the impact that humans have on the environment, and how we can carve the world around us. This can be done through damage and vandalism. I will also look at the different buildings, and architecture that has been cleverly created by humans and the beauty of it on our modern lives. Especially in the city. I can then look at this and delve into the different reflections that can be seen when looking at these giant glass structures.
By looking at how their is evidence that human life has interacted, created and destroyed the world we live in. We can also then stem on from this idea and look at how humans can become addicted, by looking at the different perks in life that people usually get addicted too. For example, the main ideas being alcohol and cigarettes. I could look at the impacts it has on the peoples lives and what it does to their health.
