Evidence - Image Bank

Evidence makes up the world, it can be the things that we leave behind or the proof that it happened in the first place. Therefore, when looking through the different images for this image bank for the starting point, I couldn't just include evidence of one topic; instead I chose to show a range of different images to show how varied Evidence is. In the first cluster of images, we see evidence of human presence. In these images are manmade buildings and different forms of architecture and sculpture which inspire me. I love the use of colour and the creativity when making such huge objects. I love the different formal elements and how they can come out of every different image including colour, line, and pattern. In order to make the architecture stand out and appealing to everyone. Incorporating modern art in the sculptures while keeping different parts classy and elegant.

The use of creativity in the next reflection images is massive which is one of the reasons why I am so attracted to the topic. In the images, we see a range of reflections which are both exact and distorted. The first image is extremely clever as it has been edited so that the mirror is floating above the chair and all we can see of the person holding it is their hands. I think this is extremely clever and would love to create images similar to this. I also love the exact reflections as they give the image twice, which enhances everything we can see on screen. One of my favourite things about the different reflections is how they show us something that we couldn't before see on screen and therefore it allows us to see it in a different perspective. To progress, I could incorporate the two different parts of architecture and reflection; especially in modern buildings. I like the way in these images that the photographer has created these images and how they are not man made.

Evidence of light is another topic where I can be creative, while also including natural and artificial light. The use of different shadows in the following images and the way that light is presented creates a calm and soothing feeling towards the audience. I especially like how the use of shadows is created. For example, on the image with the young boy, the shadows stand out and give the image character. It also shows where the light source is which is reinforced by the direction in which the young boy is facing. Another part of the light topic which I would like to explore is the evidence of humans which fits into the evidence of light; through the use of the light drawing and writing. It is a clever and fun way to experiment with light, while also creating fun images.

Crime Evidence is the way we can look at how evidence can be explored as a topic of its own. The crime evidence in the following images shows that something bad has taken place. In the first image we see a print of a boot, which shows that someone was their to walk and therefore is evidence to support the crime. In the second image, the use of black and white supports the idea that something dull has taken place as usually this is what we would associate with the dark colours. Similarly, the other images show different iconography which is what we usually find in a crime scene. For example, it is clear through the yellow tape and chalked outline on the floor that this is a crime scene without it fitting into the crime category.

Some of my favourite images that I have found in the evidence topic is the aspect of different living organisms on the earth and the different species that we share the planets with. I like these images asa they explore different colours and the marine life inside the aquarium does not look like it isn't in its natural habitat. There is also evidence of the aquarium and a barrier as such as we can see the different people watching the different fishes, however in the last two images this is not shown as it only features close ups of the fish. The photographer cleverly makes it appear as though the fish are in their natural habitat and not in a tank at the aquarium.
